Foster
Thinking of fostering? Pawsitive Match is always seeking families to welcome cats and dogs into their homes. Fostering is rewarding, offers hands-on pet care experience, and helps animals adjust to family life while awaiting adoption. Most importantly, opening your home saves lives by freeing space for other animals in urgent need.
Fostering means opening your home to a dog or cat temporarily until they find their forever family. At PMRF, foster placements typically last a few weeks to a couple of months.
During that time, you’ll provide love, safety, and basic care—helping them adjust, build confidence, and prepare for adoption. It’s one of the most impactful ways you can support rescue work, offering animals a second chance without a long-term commitment.
Process
Foster Application Process
Fostering is simple because Pawsitive Match provides the support, and you provide a safe, loving space. By opening your home, you help pets adjust to family life while saving lives.
1. Submit Application
Complete the foster application so we can learn about your home environment, experience with animals, and availability. This helps us understand what types of animals may be the best fit for you.
2. Application Review
Our Foster Team reviews your application carefully, considering lifestyle, preferences, and any resident pets. This step allows us to match animals with foster homes where they can thrive.
3. Phone Interview
A short phone interview gives us the opportunity to answer your questions, discuss expectations, and talk through potential foster placements. It’s also a chance for us to ensure you feel comfortable and supported.
4. Adoption Approval
Once approved, you’ll be added to our foster network and contacted when an animal matching your profile needs a foster home. From there, you’ll play a vital role in helping an animal heal, learn, and prepare for adoption.
