About Opal
Meet Opal! A joyful, adventurous girl with a heart as big as the beach she once called home. Rescued from a life roaming free on the beaches of Baja Sur, Mexico, Opal has embraced life with humans with incredible enthusiasm, curiosity, and love. She’s the kind of dog who steals hearts everywhere she goes with her goofy personality, affectionate nature, and zest for life.
Opal absolutely adores people and wants to be everyone’s best friend. She gets so excited to meet new humans that her whole body wiggles with happiness, sometimes forgetting that four paws belong on the floor! She’s working on her manners and has already made amazing progress with positive reinforcement and consistency. She’s smart, eager to please, and learns quickly, especially when treats, praise, and affection are involved.
This sweet girl is equally passionate about other dogs and would love a playful canine companion or regular dog friends to romp around with. While her excitement around new dogs can sometimes come across as barking, it’s really just her enthusiasm bubbling over because she desperately wants to say hello. She thrives with guidance, structure, and continued training to help her channel all that excitement into calm confidence.
Despite having no formal structure or training during her first two years of life, Opal has adapted beautifully to home life. In just a short time, she has become housetrained, learned basic commands, improved tremendously on leash, and developed wonderful routines around the house. She sleeps peacefully through the night, enjoys relaxing in her crate with the door open, and settles well after exercise and enrichment. Her foster says she’s incredibly adaptable and one of the fastest learners they’ve worked with.
Opal is an active, outdoorsy dog who loves to run, explore, nap in the sunshine, and chew on her toys outside. Because she grew up free-roaming, she still has a bit of a “free spirit” streak and is happiest in environments where she has room to move and adventure. Her ideal forever home would be with an active person, couple, or family who enjoys the outdoors and can continue building her confidence and training.
At the end of the day, though, Opal’s favourite thing is simply being close to her people. She is deeply affectionate, cuddly, loyal, and eager to be part of the pack in every way possible. Whether she’s making you laugh with her silly antics, curling up beside you for affection, or proudly showing off a new skill she’s learned, Opal brings joy and love into every moment.
If you’re looking for a smart, adventurous, deeply loving companion who will make every day brighter, Opal may just be your perfect match.
Opal was born approximately May 2024 and is a medium-sized dog.
Her adoption fee is $475.
